Transportation services for OHP members transitioned to new vendor

An OHP benefit that’s been in the news lately is non-emergent medical transportation (NEMT). This benefit provides transportation services to approved medical, dental and mental health appointments for members who need transportation assistance. For the past three years, Access2Care has provided Health Share of Oregon members this service. Due to significant issues with Access2Care, a new vendor was sought. After a lengthy and thorough process, GridWorks IC was chosen as the new manager of the Health Share NEMT program. On June 1, 2018, NEMT services transitioned from Access 2 Care to GridWorks. The transition spurred a lot of interest, and a lot of calls. GridWorks was overwhelmed, and because of that, many members experienced long wait times while others had difficulties getting their rides.

Health Share remains confident that GridWorks will resolve these transition issues and is the right partner for the NEMT program. Several steps have already been taken to mitigate the problems, additional oversight has been implemented and conditions continue to improve.
