Changes ahead: CareOregon interpreting services vendors

May 12, 2022, 19:53 PM

In 2021, CareOregon put out a request for proposal (RFP) for interpreting services to allow for improved collaboration and investment in the interpreter network. After careful consideration, we selected four vendors:

  • Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization (IRCO):

    Modality: on-site, video, and telephonic

  • Linguava:

    Modality: on-site, video, and telephonic

  • National Interpreting Service: Sign Language

    Modality: on-site and video

  • Oregon Certified Interpreter's Network (OCIN):

    Modality: on-site, video, and telephonic

New contracts go into effect April 1, 2022. Our contract with Passport to Languages (PTL) expires on June 30, 2022. If you currently schedule with PTL, please make the necessary arrangements to schedule new appointments with approved vendors for CareOregon Dental members as of July 1, 2022. Contact oralhealth@careoregon.org, if you need assistance.

We are writing our new contracts with attention to the new Oregon Administrative rules, robust quality standards, and satisfaction. We have added incentives to increase interpreter network capacity and access to certified/qualified interpreters, and we are holding the vendors accountable for member, interpreter and provider satisfaction. We will be implementing surveys to measure this and encourage you to share your experience with us.

If you already have contracts with these vendors, this may not impact you. If you wish to use any of the new vendors, you can contact them directly for questions about their services and onboarding process.

The billing process remains the same. The vendors will bill CareOregon for services provided to members who have CareOregon Dental on the date of service.
