Oregon Health Plan (OHP) Bridge Expanded Coverage for Higher Income Adults

Sep 9, 2024, 21:10 PM

We are excited to announce that on July 1, 2024, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) implemented the OHP Bridge program, and CareOregon Dental is a part of it.

OHP Bridge will expand access to affordable health coverage to approximately 100,000 Oregon residents that meet the eligibility criteria statewide. The program is a permanent extension of the existing, temporary version that began on May 1, 2023, known as, “Temporary Medicaid Expansion,” or TME. CareOregon strongly believes that by making individuals and families healthier, we make entire communities healthier, too. OHP Bridge supports this mission by providing quality, affordable health insurance coverage to adults who typically wouldn’t qualify and by providing continued care to those most likely to churn (i.e., fall in and out of health coverage due to frequent income changes). There is no change in the expectations CareOregon has of our network partners in the level of care and quality of care that is delivered to our members, regardless of category of aid, coverage, or program. For more information, Download Provider FAQs about OHP Bridge.

  • OHP Bridge is a new Oregon Health Plan (OHP) benefit package that covers adults with higher incomes. People who can get OHP Bridge must:
    • Be 19 to 65 years old
    • Have an income between 139% and 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL)
    • Have an eligible citizenship or immigration status
    • Not have access to other affordable health insurance
  • OHP Bridge is almost the same as OHP Plus.
    • It covers medical, dental, and behavioral health care just like OHP Plus
    • It also covers rides to care
    • It does not cover long-term services and supports or health related social needs
  • Just like OHP Plus, OHP Bridge is free – no premiums, no co-payments, no coinsurance, and no deductibles.
  • OHP members with income changes may be moved to OHP Bridge automatically. If a member reports a higher income when renewing OHP, they may be moved to OHP Bridge.
  • People who do not have OHP right now can apply for OHP Bridge at: Benefits.Oregon.gov
